Gone from Velcro to elastics with knobs to electrical tape to rolling them on cable drums female to male xlr and any other variation I can think off. Currently back at electrical tape but people seem to think it is ok to rip them open and leave residue pieces on the cable

Hate them all …

 I have no good answer but I will show sympathy. I'm still on Velcro. It sucks but it's the best I have. I think there's a special place in hell for us who deal with cables.

I’m with studiotan here. Velcro is best of many poor options IMHO. Best results I’ve seen have been generously sized DIY Velcro strips stapled tightly around the cable. We have the cheap and easy thomann ones.
